DID YOU KNOW…

CDG recently partnered with local minority business enterprise (MBE), Meneses Engineering , to form joint venture, Fina Engineering Consultants, LLP.
Fina specializes in electrical engineering services and was recently awarded its first project which is about to kick off.

ARC FLASH CALCULATION STANDARDS

You might be aware that arc flash calculation standards have changed with the latest revisions to IEEE 1584 (IEEE1584 2018). Arc flash calculations now need to take into account bus configuration, enclosure size, etc.  But did you know that the software you use has likely incorporated these changes as well?  In many cases these software upgrades are not backwards compatible to previous IEEE calculation methods. What that means for you, is upgrading your software may force you to update your entire arc flash model and study. In order to keep your model and your software up to date, you will likely need to reassess your electrical system and equipment to take into account the new calculation components (bus configuration, enclosure size, etc.) If you have had an arc flash study performed prior to 2019, inquire with CDG as to your options for updating your system model, the best course of action to take, and keeping your employees safe.

REMEMBERING NATHAN KASPER

CDG lost a member of the family recently. Nathan Kasper passed away on September 15, 2019 after battling a terminal illness for four years. He was loved by all of us who knew him and was always happy and positive despite the pain he was suffering. Nathan was always eager to help, and he will be missed by everyone at CDG. If you would like to donate to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in honor of Nathan’s memory, visit the link below.
