Did you know…

The St. Louis Business Journal ranked our firm #6 for highest number of on-staff PE’s with a St. Louis office! CDG also has engineers and architects registered in 29 states outside of Missouri, as well as in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Missouri Botanical Garden Oertli Family Hardy Plant Nursery

Horticultural facilities at MoBOT had become overcrowded and could not meet the department’s needs. Because of this, a decision was made to expand the existing greenhouse and research space at an off-site location. CDG was selected to coordinate the existing facilities’ demolition and site remediation while concurrently developing a master plan for the site’s reuse.

Per CDG’s design the new greenhouse, currently under construction, will be fully automated and utilize an Argus system to regulate the interior conditions. Three separate growing zones will be maintained with individual controls for temperature, irrigation, fertilization, ventilation and sunlight. The greenhouse control system will incorporate data from an on-site weather station to anticipate changing weather conditions and modify the interior conditions.

The headhouse and other site facilities will be constructed in the future and will provide freezers and environmental control chambers for some of the Garden’s seed banks.

Campbell Plaza Upgrades

Anyone who has visited CDG’s headquarters at Campbell Plaza onthe Hill knows that our building is old, really old, like 146 years-old old. With that age comes a rich history and a lot of outdated building equipment.

The principals of CDG purchasedCampbell Plaza in 1996 and formed Arsenal Street, LLC. Over the last few years, they have invested in a number of building updates and energy efficiency projects including: the replacement of over 4,000 34 watt fluorescent light bulbs with 14 watt LED lamps; 3 new boilers; a new energy efficient chiller; a new digital control system for HVAC systems; a new lighting control system; a new fire alarm system; and a new cooling tower. It is our hope that with these upgrades this historic city building can serve the St. Louis community for the next 146 years to come.

CDG Employee Fitness Challenge

Every year CDG staff members are given the opportunity to compete in a wellness competition. The ultimate goal of this workplace competition is to get employees happier, healthier and more energetic. The Healthy Lifestyle Challengeis a fun way to build camaraderie and learn how to adopt and maintain a better, more fulfilling way of living.

This year’s winner is Zack Beale. While Zack took home the gold, everyone who participated is a winner in our book.

Congrats to all participants!

Passing the Test

We would like to send a special congratulations to Evan Wilson! Evan recently passed the SE Exam, a 16-hour test that measures vertical and lateral structural engineering competency.

This exam is taken over the course of two days and has a pass rate lower than 50% for first time takers. Needless to say, it’s no easy feat. So make sure to say congrats to Evan on his accomplishment.

New Employees

There are a couple of new faces, and a familiar one, hanging around CDG’s St. Louis office. Three interns are joining us this summer: Tyler Roxby, J.R. Frisella and Brian Flint.

Please join CDG in welcoming Tyler, J.R. and Brian to the team!
